Soft Close Automatic system
The Soft Close Automatic function (SCA) necessitates fitting of the corresponding locks.

Brief description of components
When the luggage compartment lid is closed, the electronics detect the lock position from the locking pawl signal and pull the door into the main locking position. The drive for Soft Close Automatic remains in the parked position. When the luggage compartment lid is opened, the drive for Soft Close Automatic moves to the standby position so that it only has to move half a revolution the next time the lid is pulled down to close it. If the luggage compartment lid is placed in the main locking position before the drive for Soft Close Automatic is running (slammed shut), the drive for Soft Close Automatic remains in the standby position. The next time the lid is opened, the drive for Soft Close Automatic does not move.
If the electronics do not detect the two defined positions being reached within 5 seconds, the drive for Soft Close Automatic is switched off. An entry is also made in the fault code memory of the junction box electronics (JBE). Thereafter, a change in the locking pawl sensor is enough for a restart.

With the Soft Close Automatic system, the closing wedge is moved eccentrically. Closing the luggage compartment lid is supported by the Soft Close Automatic system after the rotary catch has closed. There is a microswitch in the lock of the luggage compartment lid; this signals that the rotary catch is closed.
The luggage compartment lid is unlocked mechanically on activation of the Soft Close Automatic system in the open position.

System functions

Function of the Soft Close Automatic system
The drive for the Soft Close Automatic system of the luggage compartment lid turns in one direction and it contains a microswitch that indicates when the drive has reached the open or closed position. In the closed position, the microswitch is closed. The ON period of the Soft Close Automatic system drive is limited.
The closing and opening of the Soft Close Automatic system via the luggage compartment lid contact is always active to support the function of the mechanical emergency actuating unit.

Diagnosis instructions
Fault recognition for the drive for luggage compartment lid Soft Close Automatic is only possible to a limited degree, as the drive cannot be activated directly and read out by the junction box electronics (JBE).
The junction box electronics can only detect a fault status. No distinction can be made as to whether a defect in the luggage compartment lock, a short circuit to earth or a mechanical jamming of the luggage compartment lock is involved.
As the drive for Soft Close Automatic is not directly connected to the junction box electronics (JBE), there are diagnosis jobs available for activation and status inquiry of the drive for Soft Close Automatic.
In the event of a fault, the drive for Soft Close Automatic must be checked according to the circuit diagram.
