MODEL

Produced from August 31, 2008 to April 1, 2012
SITUATION
A rattling or clattering noise may be heard from the front passengers side instrument panel, when driving on rough roads.
CAUSE
The front passengers defroster air duct makes contact with the windshield.
PROCEDURE
Confirm the rattling noise is coming from the instrument panel at the windshield by pressing down on the instrument panel in the area shown. If the noise can be duplicated, remove the instrument panel. Refer to ISTA Repair Instructions 51 45 030, "Removing and installing trim panel for the instrument panel."
1. The area of concern is where the right side defroster air duct makes contact with the front windshield.
2. With the instrument panel removed, place the panel on a clean work surface. Locate the extreme left side of the passengers side defroster air duct. Prepare a self-adhesive felt strip measuring (20 x 15 x 2 mm) and apply it to the area shown, while keeping it parallel to the top of the defroster air duct.
Reinstall the removed parts in the reverse order of their removal; then check the repair effectiveness by pressing on the instrument in the same area as before.
