SUBJECT
Air Conditioning Blows Warm Air

MODEL
F04 (ActiveHybrid 7)

SITUATION
After driving for several minutes with the air conditioning on, the system starts blowing warm air. The situation is most evident at high ambient temperatures.

^ Cycling the key will temporarily restore air conditioning functionality.

^ Fault code 801252 (EKK: Internal EKK Failure) will be stored in the IHKA.

^ No over-pressure or under-pressure faults will be stored.

CAUSE
Incorrect refrigerant level in the air conditioning system

CORRECTION
Evacuate the existing refrigerant from the air conditioning system and refill with the specified amount.

PROCEDURE

1. Evacuate the air conditioning refrigerant per REP 64 50 010.

2. Note the amount of refrigerant evacuated.

3. Compare the amount evacuated with the specified capacity, which is 975g +/- 10g, or 2.15lb +/- 0.02lb. This specification is also shown on the label on the underside of the hood.

4. Refill the system with the specified amount of refrigerant per REP 64 50 010.

5. Run the engine and operate the air conditioning system with the temperature set to low and the blower set to high.

6. Ensure that the air blows cold for several minutes.

7. With the engine running, listen in the area of the EKK (Electric Climate Compressor) for abnormal noises.

8. If abnormal noises are heard, submit a PuMA case to eMobility entitled "Abnormal EKK Noise" for further instructions. If no abnormal noises are heard, the car has been repaired.

Note:
The evacuate and recharge procedure outlined above generally reduces the vehicles current level of refrigerant.

When the ISTA system message displays: "Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger", note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
