SUBJECT
Air Conditioning System Blows Warm Air

MODEL
F25 (X3)

Vehicles produced from March 31, 2011 to August 14, 2011

SITUATION
The air conditioning system only blows warm air. The compressor does not turn on. One or more of the following faults are stored in the IHKA (Integrated Heating and Air Conditioning):

^ "E71409 No message (status, refrigerant circuit pressure, 0x2D2): receiver IHKA, transmitter JBE"

^ "E71420 JBE interface (data, refrigerant circuit pressure sensor, 0x2D2): Signal invalid"

^ "E71427 JBE interface (data, stratification, rear air conditioning, 0x2D3): Signal invalid"

^ "80118C Air conditioning compressor: Shut-down due to vacuum in refrigerant circuit"

CAUSE
JBE3 (Junction Box Electronics) hardware error

PROCEDURE

1. Perform a vehicle diagnosis using ISTA. If the faults listed above are stored in the IHKA, proceed to the next step.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: "Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger", please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.

2. Replace the JBE as per ISTA Repair Instructions "61 35 107 Removing and installing or replacing junction box electronics".

3. Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.45.1 or later.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
