SUBJECT
Windshield Wipers Switch On by Themselves and Cannot Be Switched Off

Vehicles produced from March 31, 2011 to August 14, 2011
SITUATION
The customer states that the windshield wipers switch on by themselves when the vehicle is moving, but cannot be switched off when the vehicle is turned off. The following fault codes may be stored in the JBE3:
^ 030350 - K-LIN_16 steering column switch cluster: missing LIN slave
^ C90CAB - K-LIN_3 wiper: missing LIN slave
^ C90CA9 - K-LIN_3 rain light sensor: missing LIN slave
^ C90CA8 - K-LIN_3 rear view mirror: missing LIN slave
^ C90C9F - K-LIN_3 rain light sensor: incorrect variant fitted, faulty mist sensor or faulty front light sensor
^ 8020E6 - Ignition on: start capability risk
CAUSE
JBE3 (Junction Box Electronics) hardware error
PROCEDURE
1. Perform a vehicle diagnosis using ISTA. If the faults listed above are stored in the JBE, proceed to the next step.
Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: "Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger" please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
2. Replace the JBE as per ISTA Repair Instructions "61 35 107 Removing and installing or replacing junction box electronics"
3. Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.45.1 or later.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
