41 35 ... Removing And Installing Left Front Side Wall (as Of 03/2010)







For stripping and rigging operations, refer to texts on KSD CD (job number 41 35 050). Observe gap dimensions.







IMPORTANT:
Do not damage adjoining body components.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove front bumper trim
- Remove wheel arch cover at front
- Remove trim panel for entrance
- Remove cover on wheel arch
- Remove gutter strip







Release screws.

NOTE:
Side wall and headlight are removed together.
Tightening torque 41 35 6AZ.
Tightening torque 41 35 7AZ.
Tightening torque 41 35 8AZ.
Tightening torque 41 35 9AZ.







Installation note:
- Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes. (after which hardening begins)
- Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened.
- Thread of nut must be cleaned beforehand in event of repeated use.







Release screws and remove strut (1).
Tightening torque 51 11 5AZ.







Release screw (1).


NOTE:
Poor screw accessibility.







For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:
Lever out retaining clip (1) at bottom and detach towards rear.
Remove oil cooler and tie back.







For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:
Release screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 22 5AZ.







For vehicles with auxiliary oil cooler only:
Release screws (2) and remove holding frame for oil cooler.
Tightening torque 17 22 5AZ.







View of wheel arch from below:
Unlock connector (1) for headlight (2) and disconnect.
Release screws (3).
Tightening torque 41 35 6AZ.







Pull out clamp (1) in direction of arrow.
Take off side wall.

NOTE:
When the headlight is fitted, the side wall's centre of gravity is very far forward.







Installation note:
Following parts must not be damaged or missing:
- Spacer buffers (1)
