41 61 014 - Adjusting engine bonnet/hood





Do not damage adjoining body parts.
Minor corrections (rework) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.





Note:
Observe gap dimensions.
Carry over schematic representation to the relevant vehicle type.





Check stop screw of bonnet hinge on left and right.

Note:
Pressure spring of stop screw must not be damaged or missing, replace hood/bonnet hinge if necessary.
The stop screw is preset at the factory and must not be used for adjustment!





Loosen screws (1) and (2) on left and right hinges.
Hood lid must be able to be moved.
Tightening torque 41 61 1AZ [1][2]Specifications.

Note:
If the adjustment range is not sufficient, release retaining screws of engine hood hinge on body and move hinge.
Tightening torque 41 61 2AZ [1][2]Specifications.





Adjust height to front panel by turning nut (1).

Note:
Arrester hooks must snap into place in locks!
The engine hood/bonnet is correctly adjusted in the front area by a combination of pulling the arrester hooks and pressing the stop buffers.

Adjust bump stops 51 23 ... Adjusting/Replacing Bump Stops.





Adjust transition of hood/bonnet to side panel by means of buffers (1) and (2).





Important!
Check function of arrester hook.





After installation:
- Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.

- Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate colour.

- If necessary, adjust front side panels.
