Convertible Top Latch: Service and Repair

54 37 090 - Removing and installing/replacing left or right Convertible lock





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front roofliner 54 37 035 Removing and Installing/Replacing Roofliner for Roof Shell at Front
- Open Convertible top.





Installation:
- Microencapsulated nuts (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
- Microencapsulated nuts must not be retightened
- Threads of threaded bolts must be cleaned beforehand in event of repeated use





Slide open retaining clip (1) and unclip ball head.

Note:
Before removing, mark position of nuts to ensure correct alignment when installing.

Unscrew nuts (2).

Tightening torque 54 37 12AZ [1][2]Specifications.

Installation:
Replace nuts.





Replacement only:
Screw on new fasteners loosely.
Fastener should still be able to be slid in order to centre itself.
Close soft top.
Fasteners glide into place.
Tighten nuts.
Tightening torque 54 37 12AZ [1][2]Specifications.
Check gap dimensions and if necessary adjust
