SUBJECT
N54, N54T - Catalytic Converter Conversion Faults Stored

MODEL
E89 (Z4) with the N54 and N54T engines produced to 8/31/2011

SITUATION
The Service Engine Soon (MIL) lamp could come on with one or both of the following faults stored in the DME:

^ 29F4: catalytic converter conversion - bank 1

^ 29F5: catalytic converter conversion - bank 2

CAUSE
DME software diagnostic error

CORRECTION
Do not replace any parts!

[NEW] Follow and complete the recommended diagnostic test plans using the latest version of ISTA/D.

Note: When the ISTA system message displays:

Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger.

Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.

Vehicle integration level (New) E89X-11-09-501 or later.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
