Convertible Top Hydraulic Control Unit: Service and Repair

54 34 005 Removing and installing/replacing hydraulic unit for soft top drive







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Support soft top compartment lid in service position
- Remove side trim panel at rear right
- Remove rear window gasket







IMPORTANT:
Hydraulic fluid may emerge from the disconnected lines and the open connections on the hydraulic aggregate.
Protect components and work area with suitable materials (e.g. cloths).
Follow repair instructions for hydraulic system.
Do not fit hydraulic lines in kinked, crushed or transposed condition.







Release screws.
Tightening torque 54 34 02AZ.
Remove cover (1) from rear window module.







Release screws.
Tightening torque 54 34 02AZ.
Remove cover (1) for hydraulic aggregate.







Right side of vehicle in the soft top compartment.
Disconnect the cable strap along the wiring harness.

Installation note:
Replace faulty cable straps.







Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Feed out wiring harness.







Disconnecting hydraulic lines from drive hydraulics:
- Release screws and push lock plates (1) in direction of arrow.
- Detach hydraulic lines
- Remove the hydraulic aggregate.

Installation note:
Hydraulic lines and connections are marked with numbers to prevent mix-ups.
Check oil level or top up if necessary.
