41 5. ... Adjusting left or right door
IMPORTANT:
Do not damage adjoining body components.
Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.
NOTE:
Observe gap dimensions.
The door must be provided with all add-on parts for correct adjustment.
Adjust screwed body components from rear to front.
Slacken lock striker, remove if necessary.
Height adjustment (Z):
Slacken screws (1) until door can still just be moved. Adjust height of door.
If the range of adjustment is not sufficient, also slacken screws (2) and adjust height of door.
NOTE: Carry out adjustment in longitudinal direction (X) and in transition to side panel (Y) for hinges only, as otherwise height adjustment is lost.
Adjusting in longitudinal direction (X):
Slacken screw (2) on upper hinge and adjust door in longitudinal direction. Then adjust door at lower hinge in longitudinal direction.
Adjusting in transition to side panel (Y):
Slacken screws (1) on upper hinge and adjust door in transition to side panel. Then adjust door at lower hinge in transition to side panel.
Tightening torque 41 51 2AZ and 41 51 3AZ.
Check that adjoining body components are flush in terms of height and correct if necessary.
NOTE:
Height adjustment of door must not be influenced by lock striker.
When closing the door, the lock striker must not touch or scrape against the door lock. Look out for scratch marks.
Slacken screws (1) until lock striker can still just be moved.
Move lock striker sideways in order to adjust transition between door and rear side panel.
Tightening torque 51 21 2AZ.
NOTE: When the door is closed, the lock striker must not touch or scrape against the door lock. Look out for scratch marks.
After setting:
If the hinge is slackened on the body side, the area of the hinge must be sealed in a u-shape with sealant (1).
- Tighten all screws to specified torque.
- Initialize power window.
- Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate colour.
