Quarter Window Glass: Adjustments

51 32 ... Adjusting vertical dimension of front left or right side window

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT: The shaft dimension of the door window pane has been adjusted exactly ex works (works tolerance 0.8 mm).

Recommendation:
Only perform adjustments on the shaft dimension at the door window pane if this is absolutely necessary.

IMPORTANT: Do not slam the door during adjustment and measurement (risk of breaking glass).

Prerequisite:
- Vehicle must stand on level ground on its wheels







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Charge battery
(Full operability of the power windows during the adjustment procedure is only assured with an external power supply)
- Remove outer window cavity weather strip







1. Preparations for measurement:
Open door; move door window pane into uppermost position, if necessary.
Insert special tool 51 0 341 into the opening of the lock and manually unlock the rotary striker.

NOTE: Power window regulator will only move to the end stop via short lift when special tool is inserted.







2. Measure shaft dimension:
Please observe line of sight when reading (from rear edge of door towards the front).
Determine shaft dimension (X) using special tool 51 0 342 from the door window pane (2) horizontally to the inner edge of the flange (1).
(X) = 10.5 ±1 mm







3. Adjusting the shaft dimension:

3.1. Prerequisites:
- Remove front door trim panel
- Adjusting element (2) for preload of the door window pane is positioned centrally:
- Only undo nut (4) of the adjusting element (2) using the reversible ratchet (5) of the special tool 51 3 300.
- Centrally position the adjusting element (2) to preload the door window pane using the handle (1) on the special tool 51 3 300.
- Fasten nut (4) of the adjusting element (2) using the reversible ratchet (5) of the special tool 51 3 300. Tightening torque 51 33 6AZ.







3.2. Setting:
Loosen nut (1) with special tool 51 0 400.
Tightening torque 51 33 6AZ.
Insert ratchet extension in the special tool 51 0 400.
The shaft dimension is adjusted by rotating the ratchet extension and countering using a nut (1). Check shaft dimension.
If necessary, repeat adjusting procedure.
