Notes Concerning Night Vision Electronics
Limitations on recognition of humans
- The person recognition function operates within a range of 15 m - 100 m.
- The person must be completely visible for the system to operate. Hats, helmets and umbrellas can all restrict the system's ability to recognize persons. Apparel with insulation and other kinds of insulating materials can also produce problems.
- Persons are only recognised provided that they are standing upright. The system does not recognize bicyclists who are leaning forward and does not detect animals.
- Unfavourable weather (rain, fog, snow) can also have a negative effect on the "person recognition" function.
- Environmental features such as dips, hills and sharp corners can also reduce the effectiveness of the recognition function, as can vehicles entering the camera's imaging range.
