41 62 014 Adjusting tailgate







IMPORTANT:
Do not damage adjoining body components.
Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.







Read contents of Body, General.
For stripping and rigging operations, refer to texts on KSD CD (job number 41 62 014).
Observe gap dimensions.
The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.

NOTE:
Following components must be correctly fitted and adjusted:
- Soft top compartment lid







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Connect charger to battery
- Remove water channel cover, rear (tailgate)







Open tailgate.
Undo latch mechanisms and disconnect wiring harness holder (1) from hinge.







Undo nut (1) and remove ground cable.
Tightening torque 41 62 8AZ.
Slacken nuts (2) until such stage that the tailgate can still be moved.
Adjust tailgate laterally and longitudinally.
Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ.
When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. If necessary, adjust striker.







Height adjustment of tailgate:
Slacken screw (1) until such stage that the hinge (2) can still be moved.
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ.
Close rear lid.







Open soft top compartment cover.
Slacken nuts (1) until hinge can be moved.
Adjust height of tailgate
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ.
Adjust stop pad.







After setting:
- Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
- Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate colour.
- If reversing camera optional equipment installed:
Calibrate reversing camera.
