54 62 500 Trigger/retract the rollover bar







WARNING:
Danger of injury.
When a rollover bar is mechanically triggered, only one person may be present underneath the rollover bar.







Triggering rollover bar mechanically:
A mechanical emergency release is performed via the luggage compartment.
Stow (open) soft top in soft top compartment.
Lift out sealing caps (1) from luggage compartment trim panel.
Using Torx key TX40, emergency unlock rollover protection by applying force against the pressure spring force (direction of arrow).







IMPORTANT:
Rollover bar must be fully extended.
Check at arrow on rollover bar.







IMPORTANT:
When retracting, make sure rollover bar snaps into place on lower limit position.
Slowly relieve load on rollover bar.







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove air outlet ornamental grille

Hold release lever (1) outward against the acting spring force.
Press down rollover bar as far as it will go until the actuator locks.

NOTE:
Release release lever (1) before the actuator locks.
Rollover bar must snap audibly into place.
