Fault patterns, angle-of-rotation sensor, fin
The following fault patterns are currently known for the fin angle-of-rotation sensor:
- Arm of the fin angle-of-rotation sensor detached
- Cable break on soft top wiring harness
In both cases, the soft top stops and cannot be opened or closed.
Fault pattern: Arm of the fin angle-of-rotation sensor detached
Arm of the fin angle-of-rotation sensor can be detached by the soft top cover during movement of the convertible top.
Repair measures: Refit arm of the fin angle-of-rotation sensor.
NOTICE: If the soft top is folded back, the emergency actuator must first be activated and the soft top raised manually.
Fault pattern: Cable break on soft top wiring harness
Look out for damage to the wiring harness in the area between the 3rd and 4th soft top bow on the middle joint of the top tensioning rod.
The following simplified procedure for dismantling can be followed for visual inspection and repair of the potential fault location:
1. Move soft top to intermediate setting (half-open).
2. Partially remove C-pillar gasket on the rear right/left. It is not necessary to release the screw connection on the fin.
3. Partly remove the soft top cover. Release rivet connections of soft top cover section on gasket rail.
NOTE:
To avoid damage to the gasket, wrap drill with adhesive tape.
(see repair instructions Replacing soft top cover)
Consult repair instructions Wiring harness repair for fin angle-of-rotation sensor for repairs to the wiring harness.
NOTE: After reinstalling the gasket on the rear right/left, the side window must be inserted correctly in the gasket and must lie in the gasket along its entire width - if necessary, adjust the side window, as leakage will occur if its position is offset (observe repair instructions Adjusting the side window on the rear left or right).
