Rear Compartment Temperature Control

Rear Compartment Temperature Control

Temperature settings for the rear of the passenger compartment are implemented primarily by the footwell ventilation duct and the rear compartment ventilation grille. The process depends on the adjusted setting and the outside temperature.

At extreme settings (example: set for 28° C, manual flap adjustment and engine not yet warmed to normal operating temperature) substantial differences in the temperatures of the air emerging from the front and rear fresh-air grilles can occur.

It is not possible to adjust the temperature to compensate using the rear compartment ventilation grille, because neither rear stratification control nor a temperature sensor is installed on the rear compartment ventilation grille.

Even with manual adjustment it is not possible to achieve the front fresh-air grille's discharge temperature at the rear compartment ventilation grille.

Assessment of maximum exit temperature is possible at the front and rear footwell ventilation ducts, but not at the front fresh-air grille or the rear compartment ventilation grille.
