SITUATION
A noise may be heard from the left or right front seat base when driving on rough roads.
CAUSE
The riveting of the seat control bracket to the metal seat base is too loose.
PROCEDURE
Confirm the location of the noise by test driving on a rough road, and then proceed to the next step.
1. Using the Repair Instructions 52 14 040, move the affected seat to
the forwardmost and uppermost position, and then remove the outer seat cover trim.
2. Remove the two screws securing the seat adjustment switch panel and place the panel to the rear side.
3. Release the seat cover from the 3 securing tabs to expose the rivets securing the black plastic bracket.
4. Drill out the 3 rivets and pull back the top of the black plastic panel.
5. Apply the felt tape (50 mm) to the front metal area as shown.
Note:
The seat cover and plastic bracket were removed for illustration purposes only, and show the location of the felt to be applied. After the felt tape is applied, rivet the bracket to the seat frame. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of their removal, and then quality check the repair.
