SUBJECT

Head-Up Display Is Too Dark

MODEL

SITUATION

The Head-up Display (HUD) is too dark.

CAUSE

Rain/light/solar/condensation sensor (RLSB) hardware error

CORRECTION

1. Perform a vehicle test using the latest ISTA diagnostic software. Complete all test modules related to any faults stored in the RLSB. If there are no faults stored or the test modules do not identify a root cause of the situation, proceed to step 2.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: "Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger." Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section. This documentation is not necessary when part of an approved Technical Service repair procedure; the battery charger is required to be attached before performing the Vehicle Test.

2. Check the Aenderungs Index (AI) on the installed RLSB sensor if there is no relevant fault code stored for this issue.

3. Replace the RLSB sensor if the AI number on the RLSB sensor is 01.

Note:
The improved RLSB sensor has an AI number of 02 or higher.
