Rear Upper (All Wheel Drive)

Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement (All Wheel Drive)

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the rear wheel.
3. Remove the brake caliper and support the bake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose.
4. Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
5. Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
6. Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
7. Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm.





8. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
9. Use 2 utility stands in order to support the crossmember.
10. Remove the crossmember to underbody bolts.
11. Slowly lower the crossmember until there is enough clearance to remove the upper control arm.





12. Remove the upper control arm to crossmember bolts and nuts.
13. Remove the upper control arm.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the upper control arm.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts and the nuts which secure the upper control arm to the crossmember.
^ Tighten the nuts to 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).
3. Use 2 utility stands in order to raise the crossmember.
4. Install the crossmember-to-underbody bolts.





5. Install the upper control arm to the knuckle.
^ Tighten the nut which secures the upper control arm to 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm.
7. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm as necessary.
8. Connect the park brake cable to the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
9. Install the brake caliper.
10. Install the rear wheel.
11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
