Audio Distortion - One or More Speakers

AUDIO DISTORTION - ONE OR MORE SPEAKERS

DEFINITION: Audio distortion is present in all speakers with all audio sources in vehicles equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment or Digital Radio Receiver (DRR).

DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
Always perform the Entertainment System Diagnostic System Check before proceeding with these diagnostic procedures.

IMPORTANT: The following information lists the most probable cause of the concern to the least probable cause followed by the appropriate test for that condition. If the list leads to the replacement of a component, always inspect for a poor connection before proceeding with the replacement.

1. Right or left audio signal (+) open or shorted to battery positive voltage. Test the appropriate right or left audio signal (+) for an open or a short to battery positive voltage.
2. Audio common signal open or shorted to battery positive voltage. Test the audio common signal for an open or a short to battery positive voltage.
3. Audio output of the DVD player. Disconnect the DVD player, if the distortion is eliminated, replace the DVD player.
4. Audio output of the Digital Radio Receiver. Disconnect the DRR, if the distortion is eliminated, replace the DRR.
