Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the liftgate window.
2. Remove the rear quarter trim located above the tail lamps.
3. Remove the liftgate window garnish molding.
4. Remove the liftgate trim panel.




5. Disconnect the rear windshield washer fluid supply line.
6. Disconnect the center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) electrical connector located behind the header panel.




7. Disconnect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).
8. Remove the license plate pocket.
9. Remove the lock cylinder.
10. Remove the window latch assembly.
11. Remove the window wiper assembly.
12. Remove the liftgate control module.
13. Remove the liftgate wire harness.
14. Remove the liftgate struts.
15. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges using a grease pencil or other suitable marking device.




16. Remove the liftgate hinge nuts with the aid of an assistant.
17. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the liftgate to the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the liftgate hinge nuts.

Tighten the liftgate hinge nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Install the liftgate struts.
4. Install the wire harness to the liftgate.
5. Install the liftgate control module.
6. Install the window wiper assembly.
7. Install the window latch assembly.
8. Install the lock cylinder.
9. Install the license plate pocket.




10. Connect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).




11. Connect the rear window washer fluid supply hose.
12. Connect the CHMSL electrical connector behind the header panel.
13. Install the liftgate trim panel.
14. Install the liftgate window garnish molding.
15. Install the upper rear quarter trim, located above the tail lamp.
16. Install the liftgate window.
