Endgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the end gate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.
2. Remove the right rear tail lamp assembly.




3. Remove the bolt (2) retaining the end gate harness to the body.
4. Remove the end gate harness grommet (3) from the body, but do not disconnect the harness.
5. Remove the end gate support cable.




6. Remove the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the end gate.
7. Remove the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the end gate side hinge.
8. Close the end gate.
9. Open the end gate (swing mode).
10. Remove the end gate torque rod.
11. Remove the end gate trim panel.
12. Remove the end gate control module.
13. Remove the inner panel reinforcement.
14. Remove the end gate wedge.
15. Remove the rear wiper arm.
16. Remove the end gate window outer sealing strip.
17. Remove the end gate window reveal molding.
18. Remove the endgate window.
19. Remove the end gate window regulator.
20. Remove the end gate window run channels.
21. Remove the end gate license plate pocket.
22. Remove the left upper end gate latch.
23. Remove the left lower end gate latch.
24. Remove the rear wiper motor.
25. Remove the end gate harness.




26. Remove the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining the body side hinge to the end gate hinge.




27. With an assistant holding the end gate, manually release the right hand upper latch (2), by sliding the release lever (1) using a flat-bladed tool.




28. With an assistant, lift the end gate (2) off the integral locating pins (1) on the hinge.
29. Place the end gate assembly on a clean protected surface.
30. Remove the right side upper latch bracket assembly from the end gate.
31. Remove the hinge from the end gate.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the hinge to the end gate.
2. Install the right side upper latch bracket assembly to the end gate.




3. With an assistant, place the end gate (2) on the integral location pin (1) on the hinge.
4. With an assistant, secure the right upper latch to the striker, ensuring the latch is fully latched.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the lower hinge strap bolt (1) retaining body side hinge to the end gate hinge.

Tighten the lower hinge strap bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the end gate harness.
7. Install the rear wiper motor.
8. Install the end gate license plate pocket.
9. Install the left lower end gate latch.
10. Install the left upper end gate latch.
11. Install the end gate window run channels.
12. Install the end gate window regulator.
13. Install the end gate window.
14. Install the end gate window reveal molding.
15. Install the end gate window outer sealing strip.
16. Install the rear wiper arm.
17. Install the end gate wedge assembly.
18. Install the inner panel reinforcement.
19. Install the end gate control module.
20. Install the end gate torque rod.
21. Carefully close the end gate, ensuring the latches are fully engaged.
22. Perform an end gate window learn cycle. Refer to Window Learn Cycle - Endgate.
23. Open the end gate (drop mode). Secure with the prop rod.




24. Install the upper hinge strap screw (2) retaining the body side hinge to the end gate side hinge.

Tighten the upper hinge strap screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

25. Install the bolt (1) retaining the hinge assemblies to the end gate.

Tighten the hinge bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

26. Install the end gate support cable.




27. Install the end gate harness grommet (3) to the body.
28. Install the bolt (2) retaining the end gate harness to the body.

Tighten the end gate harness bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

29. Install the right rear tail lamp assembly.
30. Inspect and adjust the end gate alignment.
31. Inspect and adjust the end gate window.
32. Adjust the end gate wedges. Refer to Wedge Replacement - Endgate - Endgate Side.
