Cylinder Head Replacement - RightRemoval Procedure
1. Remove the powertrain module from the vehicle.
2. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
3. Remove the right bank secondary timing chain.
4. Remove the wiring harness ground from the rear of the cylinder head.
5. Remove the wiring harness ground from the front of the cylinder head.
6. Remove the wiring harness conduit upper bolt from the cylinder head and reposition the wiring harness to provide access.
7. Remove the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold.
8. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
9. Clean and inspect the cylinder head and the engine block sealing surfaces.
10. If necessary, perform the following steps:
^ Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.
^ Disassemble the cylinder head.
Installation Procedure
1. If necessary, perform the following steps:
^ Assemble the cylinder head.
^ Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
2. Install a NEW cylinder head gasket.
3. Carefully install the cylinder head with the exhaust manifold to the engine.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the wiring harness conduit to the cylinder head.
Tighten the wiring harness upper bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Install the wiring harness ground to the front of the cylinder head.
Tighten the cylinder head front ground bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the wiring harness ground to the rear of the cylinder head.
Tighten the cylinder head rear ground bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
7. Install the right bank secondary timing chain.
8. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
9. Install the assembled powertrain module to the vehicle.
