Evaporator Tube Replacement - Outlet
EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENT - OUTLETTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the wiper motor module.
4. Remove the nut that secures the evaporator outlet tube to the TXV.
5. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the TXV.
6. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator outlet tube.
IMPORTANT: Cap or tape off the open A/C components immediately to prevent system contamination.
7. Cap or tape off the TXV.
8. Remove the outlet tube bracket bolt.
9. Remove the bolt that secures the suction hose to the outlet tube fitting.
10. Disconnect the outlet tube from the suction hose.
11. Cap or tape off the suction hose.
12. Remove the outlet tube.
13. Remove and discard the sealing washers.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install new sealing washers to the evaporator outlet tube.
2. Install the outlet tube.
3. Remove the cap or tape from the suction hose.
4. Connect the outlet tube to the suction hose.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the bolt that secures the suction hose to the outlet tube.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
6. Connect the inlet tube to the outlet tube.
7. Remove the cap or tape from the TXV.
8. Connect the outlet tube to the TXV.
9. Install the nut that secures the outlet tube to the TXV.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
10. Install the outlet tube bracket bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 5.5 N.m (49 lb in).
11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
12. Install the wiper motor module.
13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Use J 39400-A to leak test the fittings of the component.
