Suction Hose Replacement
SUCTION HOSE REPLACEMENTTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the bolt that secures the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube.
3. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the suction hose.
IMPORTANT: Cap or tape the open A/C hose immediately to prevent system contamination.
4. Cap or tape off the evaporator outlet tube.
5. Remove the nut that secures the suction hose to the compressor.
6. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.
7. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port.
8. Remove the suction hose.
9. Remove and discard the sealing washers.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install a new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose.
2. Install the suction hose.
3. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction port.
4. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the nut that secures the suction hose to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
6. Install a new sealing washer between the suction hose and the evaporator outlet tube fitting.
7. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator outlet tube.
8. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube fitting.
9. Install the bolt to secure the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Use J 39400-A to leak test the fittings of the component
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
