Interior - Headliner Sagging at Rear of Sunroof Opening

Headliner Sag at Rear of Sunroof Opening (Apply Adhesive)

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2008 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-110-003A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition # 1
Some customers may comment that the headliner is lower at the rear and/or the sides of the sunroof opening.
Cause # 1
The adhesive on the Velcro� strips that retain the headliner to the roof may have come loose from the sunroof frame.
Correction # 1
1. Pull the headliner down at the rear and remove the portion of Velcro(R) that has come loose from the sunroof frame.
2. Lightly lay that piece of Velcro(R) on top of the Velcro(R) that is attached to the headliner.
3. Push the headliner upward lightly so the Velcro(R) reattaches itself to the sunroof frame.
4. Mark the perimeter of the Velcro(R) on the sunroof frame and then remove the Velcro(R).
5. Apply fast cure epoxy adhesive to the back side of the Velcro(R).
6. Reinstall the Velcro(R) to the previously marked location from Step 3.
7. Let cure and push the headliner back into position.
Condition # 2
The plastic extension(s) that the Velcro is attached to may have come loose from the headliner.
Cause # 2
The adhesive on the plastic extension(s) to the headliner may have come loose.
Correction # 2
Apply a fast cure two-part epoxy to the plastic extension and reinstall it to the headliner.
Condition # 3
The Velcro strips may have separated between themselves.
Cause # 3
The hook portion of the Velcro(R) strips may not have enough retention to the cloth portion of the Velcro(R).
Correction # 3
Replace the Velcro on the plastic extensions following the procedure below.
1. Remove the hook portion of the Velcro from the plastic extension(s) using a utility knife.
Important:
The hook portion of the Velcro is sonic welded to the plastic extension in the middle and on the outer edges.
2. Apply a fast cure, two-part epoxy to the plastic extension and install 3M(TM) Dual Lock(R) to the extension using the coarser of the two.
