Differential Carrier Assembly - Final Assembly

Tools Required
^ J45225 Axle Seal Installer
^ J8092 Universal Driver Handle- 3/4 inch - 10

1. Adjust the backlash.
2. Inspect the alignment mark between the differential bearing adjuster and the differential carrier assembly case. If the line between the differential bearing adjuster and the differential carrier assembly case is not aligned, re-align the 2 components as necessary.





3. Install the left side inner shaft seal using the J45225 (2) and the J8092 (1).





4. Install the right side inner shaft seal using the J45225 (2) and the J8092 (1).
5. Remove the differential carrier assembly bolts.
6. Remove the right differential carrier case half.
7. Clean the sealing surface of each half of the differential carrier case and the inner axle housing to differential carrier assembly. The surfaces must be clean of all grease and oil.
8. Apply a bead of sealer to one differential carrier case half sealing surface. Use the correct sealer.
9. Install the right differential carrier case half.

10. Notice: Refer to Fastener in Service Precautions.

Install the differential carrier case bolts.
Tighten the differential carrier case bolts to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).

11. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the drain plug.
Tighten the drain plug to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
12. Install the fill plug.
Tighten the fill plug to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
