Cylinder Head Assembly





Cylinder Head Replacement - Left
Cylinder Head Replacement - Right

Install the new cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
Using the J 45059, torque the cylinder head bolts in sequence, an additional 95 degrees.

Combustion Chamber Depth - at Measurement Point 2.2 mm (0.087 inch)
Surface Finish - Maximum 2.8 RA
Surface Flatness - Block Deck 0.08 mm (per 152 mm (0.003 inch) per 6 inch)
Surface Flatness - Exhaust Manifold Deck 0.1 mm (0.004 inch)
Surface Flatness - Intake Manifold Deck 0.1 mm (0.004 inch)
Valve Guide Bore - Exhaust 8.01 mm (0.315 inch)
Valve Guide Bore - Intake 8.01 mm (0.315 inch)
Valve Guide Installed Height 16.6 mm (0.654 inch)





Exhaust Manifold Nut
Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts working from the center outward 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Bolt 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Exhaust Manifold Stud 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
Flywheel Bolt 71 Nm (52 ft. lbs.)
Intake Manifold Coolant Pipe Bolt 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)





Lower Intake Manifold bolts.

Important: Manufacturer recommends the center bolts be fully torqued before the diagonal bolts to assure proper seal ability.

Important: Lower intake manifold bolts in location 6 and 7 should be torqued to specification using a crows foot type tool.

Lower Intake Manifold Bolt - Center
Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) in sequence.
Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (5, 6, 7, 8) in sequence.
First Pass 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.)
First Pass 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.)
Lower Intake Manifold Bolt - Corner
Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) in sequence.
Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (5, 6, 7, 8) in sequence.
Final Pass 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.)
Final Pass 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Upper Intake Manifold Bolt/Stud 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.
EGR Cover Plate to Upper Intake Manifold Bolt and Stud 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Cylinder Head Deck Height 224 mm (8.818 inch)
Cylinder Head Deck Surface Flatness 0.05 mm (per 152 mm (0.0019 inch) per 6 inch)
Valve Lifter Bore Diameter 21.417-21.455 mm (0.843-0.844 inch)
