Cylinder Head Assembly





Left Cylinder Head bolts

Important: DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts.

Install new M11 cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the M11 bolts a first pass in sequence to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the M11 bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 120 degrees using the J 45059.
Install the 2 front M8 left cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the M8 bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the M8 bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 60 degrees using the J 45059.





Right Cylinder Head bolts

Important: DO NOT reuse the old M11 cylinder head bolts.

Install new M11 cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the M11 cylinder head bolts a first pass in sequence to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the M11 cylinder head bolts a second pass in sequence an additional 120 degrees using the J 45059.





Camshaft Bearing Cap bolts
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten in sequence to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
Loosen the center intake camshaft bearing cap bolts 1, 2 and the center exhaust camshaft bearing cap bolts 3, 4.
Retighten the center camshaft bearing cap bolts 1, 2, 3, 4.
Retighten the camshaft bearing cap bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Exhaust Manifold Installation - Left

Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the left exhaust manifold.
Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





Exhaust Manifold Installation - Right

Install the exhaust manifold bolts into the right exhaust manifold.
Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Heat Shield Bolt 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
Studs 6 Nm (4.4 inch lbs.)





Intake Manifold Replacement - Upper

Install the intake manifold bolts (1-6).
Tighten the intake manifold bolts in the order shown to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
Upper-to-Cylinder Head Bolt - Long 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
Upper-to-Cylinder Head Bolt - Short 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
