Pop, Snap or Creak Type Noise In Front End (Adjust Bumper Clearance)

This bulletin is being revised to add the 2006 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-08-62-003 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

Condition

Some customers may comment on a pop, snap or creak type noise from the front end.

Cause

The front bumper bar may come in contact with the front end of the frame channel.

Correction





1. Remove the front impact bar following the Front Bumper Impact Bar Replacement procedure in SI. Grind the sheet metal down below the bumper bar attaching brackets. Refer to the arrows in the illustration above.

2. Metal finish as necessary per the GM 4901M Approved Refinish Materials Booklet. The information for the GM Approved Refinish Materials booklet is now online at the GM Goodwrench website ONLY. Printed books have been discontinued. Follow these steps to access the site:

2.1. Go to www.gmgoodwrench.com.

2.2. Click on GM Collision Parts.

2.3. Click on GM Technical Repair Information.

2.4. Click on Paint Shop.

Refinish the area using materials compliant to GM4901M standards. Allow to dry and apply a coating of Synthetic Lubricant with Teflon, P/N 12371287 (in Canada, P/N 10953437).
