Suction Hose Replacement
SUCTION HOSE REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
4. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube from the suction hose.
5. Cap or tape off the evaporator outlet tube.
IMPORTANT: Cap or tape the open A/C hose immediately to prevent system contamination.
6. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
7. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector above the A/C compressor and reposition the wiring harness aside.
8. Remove the lower air baffle.
9. Remove the suction hose to compressor nut.
10. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.
11. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port.
12. Remove the suction hose.
13. Remove and discard the sealing washers.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install a new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose.
2. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction port.
3. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
4. Install the suction hose to compressor nut.
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
5. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
6. Install the lower air baffle.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install a new sealing washer at the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting.
9. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator outlet tube.
10. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube fitting.
11. Install the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
12. Install the air cleaner assembly.
13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
