Exhaust Seal Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Install a utility stand under the catalytic converter for support.
3. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector (1) clip from the heat shield.
4. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer (2).
5. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.
Notice: To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6 degrees up or down.
6. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
7. Remove the catalytic converter from the catalytic converter hanger.
8. Reposition the catalytic converter rearward in order to access the exhaust seal.
9. Remove the catalytic converter seal.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the catalytic converter seal.
2. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the catalytic converter to the catalytic converter hanger.
4. Remove the utility stand from under the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the catalytic converter nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.).
6. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
7. Install the CPA retainer (2).
8. Install the HO2S electrical connector (1) clip to the heat shield.
9. Lower the vehicle.
