Instrument Panel (I/P) Assembly Replacement

INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution.

3. Remove the covers from the right and the left access holes on the instrument panel (I/P).
4. Remove the I/P insulators.
5. Remove the side upper garnish moldings from the windshield.
6. Remove the upper trim pad from the I/P.
7. Remove the front floor console.
8. Remove the knee bolster panel.



9. Remove the bolts from the lower steering column.
10. Remove the nuts from the upper steering column.
11. Lower the steering column.
12. Remove the hood release handle.
13. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC) trim plate bezel.
14. Remove the IPC.
15. Remove the radio.
16. Remove the heater A/C control.
17. Remove the I/P compartment.
18. Remove the I/P compartment lamp switch.



19. Remove the I/P mounting screws.




20. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
21. Remove the I/P.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Align the I/P to the vehicle.
2. Reposition the I/P wiring harness.
3. Install the I/P mounting bolts at the cluster pocket.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.

Tighten the mounting bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).



4. Install the I/P mounting bolts at the windshield.
Tighten the mounting bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




5. Install the I/P mounting bolts to the compartment.

Tighten the mounting bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the I/P compartment lamp switch.
7. Install the I/P compartment.
8. Install the IPC.
9. Install the heater A/C control.
10. Install the radio.
11. Install the IPC trim plate bezel.
12. Install the hood release handle.



13. Raise the steering column.
14. Install the nuts to the upper steering column.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

15. Install the bolts to the lower steering column.

Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

16. Install the knee bolster panel.
17. Install the front floor console.
18. Install the I/P upper trim panel.
19. Install the windshield side upper garnish moldings.
20. Install the I/P insulators.
21. Install the I/P access hole covers.
22. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 or SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5.
23. Connect the battery negative cable.
