Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Rendezvous) .
2. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
3. Remove the liftgate latch strikers. Refer to Liftgate Latch Striker Replacement (Rendezvous) .
4. Remove the liftgate bumper mounting brackets.
5. Disconnect the liftgate electrical connector.




6. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .




7. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges to the liftgate with a grease pencil.
8. Remove the bolts from the liftgate hinges, with an assistant.
9. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle , with an assistant and place outside face down on a clean padded surface.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the liftgate hinges to the marked location points on the liftgate, with an assistant.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

2. Install the bolts to the liftgate hinges, with an assistant.

Tighten the liftgate hinge bolts to 33 N.m (28 lb ft).





3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
4. Connect the liftgate electrical connector.
5. Install the liftgate latch strikers. Refer to Liftgate Latch Striker Replacement (Rendezvous) .
6. Install the liftgate bumper mounting brackets.
7. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
8. Install the upper and lower liftgate trim panels. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement (Rendezvous) .
9. Adjust the liftgate as required. Refer to Liftgate Hinge Replacement .
