Power Mirrors Inoperative (Rendezvous w/A43)
Power Mirrors Inoperative (Rendezvous w/A43)
Diagnostic Aids
* An intermittent power mirrors inoperative fault may be caused by an open outside rearview mirror switch ground circuit. When the outside rearview mirror switch ground circuit is open, the switch may seek a ground path through the illumination ground circuit.
* An intermittent driver outside rearview mirror malfunction may be caused by an open driver mirror motor left control circuit. When the driver mirror motor left control circuit is open, the driver mirror motor may seek an alternate circuit path through the passenger mirror motor.
* An intermittent passenger outside rearview mirror malfunction may be caused by an open passenger mirror motor left control circuit. When the passenger mirror motor left control circuit is open, the passenger mirror motor may seek an alternate circuit path through the driver mirror motor.
Test Description
Step 1 - Step 13:
Step 14 - Step 28:
Step 29 - Step 30:
3. This step tests for an open in the outside rearview mirror switch ground circuit. If the mirror switch ground circuit is open, turning on the headlamps will remove the alternate ground path through the illumination ground circuit.
4. This step tests to see if the malfunction is on the switch side of the memory seat module (MSM), or the mirror motor side.
7. This step tests for a short to ground in the mirror switch or motor control circuits.
8. This step tests for an open or short to ground in the mirror switch supply voltage circuit.
10. This step tests for an open or short to ground in the mirror motor.
11. This step tests for an open or short to ground in the mirror motor assembly.
