Battery Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.
Caution: Batteries generate hydrogen gas, which is extremely flammable and may explode violently if ignited by a spark or a flame. Battery acid is extremely corrosive and causes severe personal injury if the acid comes into contact with the skin, and blindness if the acid comes into contact with the eyes. In order to avoid severe personal injury, use extreme caution when servicing the battery or battery-related components.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the positive battery cable bolt at the battery.
3. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery.
4. Remove the front fender diagonal brace.
5. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer.
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Remove the battery insulator from the battery.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the battery insulator to the battery.
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees.
2. Install the battery.
3. Install the battery hold down retainer and bolt.
4. Install the front fender diagonal brace.
5. Position the positive battery cable to the battery.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
6. Tighten the positive battery cable bolt at the battery.
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
