DTC C0131
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptors
DTC C0131 00
- ABS Pressure Circuit
DTC C0131 5A
- Pressure Circuit Plausibility Failure
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses input from the brake pressure sensor for more accurate control during a vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) event.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition voltage is greater than 9.5 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
C0131 00
* Sensor supply voltage is less than 4.5 volts or greater than 5.3 volts for more than 1 sec.
* Sensor signal voltage is less than 0.12 volts or greater than 3.2 volts for more than 1 sec.
C0131 00
C0131 5A
* The EBCM sees the brake pedal is applied, and does not see the brake pressure increase when stopping.
* The EBCM sees the brake pressure increase, and does not see the brake pedal is applied, but when stopping.
* Signal is erratic and changes faster than physically allowed.
Internal pressure sensor fault.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the antilock brake system (ABS), traction control system (TCS) and vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The ABS/TCS and stabilitrak indicator turns ON.
* The Service Traction Control, and stabilitrak displayed on the DIC.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
The brake fluid pressure sensor is integral to the BPMV/EBCM. The brake fluid pressure sensor is not serviceable. After replacing a BPMV and the DTC resets as a current code, it may be necessary to perform a brake pressure sensor calibration with a scan tool.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BPP parameter while applying and releasing the brake pedal. The reading should change between Applied and Released.
2. Verify that DTC C0277, C0297, or B3445 is not set.
• If any of the DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle
Replace the BPMV and verify DTC does not reset. If DTC reset, replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
