DTC C0161 00
- Antilock Brake System (ABS) Brake Switch Circuit
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors inputs when the vehicle is stopping that it sees the brake pedal is pressed, the brake pressure increases, and the vehicle is slowing down, or when the vehicle is accelerating, the brake pedal is not pressed and the brake pressure does not increase.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The vehicle speed is greater than 16 km/h (10 mph).
* The ignition voltage is greater than 9.5 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
* The brake pedal is sensed as applied for 1 minute.
* The vehicle speed is greater than 21 km/h (13 mph).
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The ABS/TCS/VSES if equipped, remains functional.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

The DTC C0161 00 can be set if the brake pedal is applied while accelerating.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool EBCM BPP parameter while applying and releasing the brake pedal. The reading should change between Applied and Released.
2. Verify that DTC C0277, C0297, or B3445 is not set.
