A/T - 125C Improvement of TCC Apply When Cold
TSB 85-27Subject: 125C
Some complaints have been received, that when the TCC exhaust hole has been enlarged to .080 to .125 inches, the converter clutch applies very hard, when the transmission is cold. Enlargement of the hole is done to reduce converter clutch shudder.
To improve the cold apply feel of the converter clutch, and to help prevent the shudder when hot, drill the exhaust hole to .070 inches, and cut a notch as shown in the gasket between the separator plate and the valve body.
This gasket slot will act as a temperature sensitive orifice and will give a smoother cold apply, and still help to eliminate converter clutch shudder hot.
