MODELS AFFECTED: 1980 THRU 1983 SKYLARKS, SKYHAWKS AND CENTURYS EQUIPPED WITH THM 125 or THM 125C TRANSMISSIONS

To correct subject conditions on some subject cars, two changes in the low and reverse clutch assembly (Fig. 5) have been introduced. The low and reverse piston assembly is produced with a third design lip seal retainer (Fig. 1). An oil displacement insert (Fig. 2) has been added to the low and reverse clutch assembly. This insert displaces oil and quickens the apply of the low and reverse clutch.
When servicing any 1980 thru 1983 THM 125/125C transaxle for a no reverse or a neutral to reverse delayed engagement, refer to the following chart.
