MIL ON, DTC 13 (Oxygen Sensor) Set

Model Year 1983

Bulletin No. 83-128

File In Group 64A

Number 14

Date May '83
SUBJECT: Oxygen Sensor Setting Code 13 on 1982 and 1983 Skyhawks Equipped with a 1.8L Engine, Code O (E.F.I.) and 1982 and 1983 Centurys and Skylarks Equipped with a 2.5L Engine, Code R (E.F.I.)
A code (13) stored in the ECM memory can be caused by an inoperative oxygen sensor (O2). The O2 sensor may not generate enough voltage to the ECM or there may be an opening in the sensor wire which can cause the check engine light to come on and store the code (13).

If using the code (13) diagnostic chart leads to replacing the oxygen sensor, a new sensor part number 5613959 should be installed.
