Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair

SKYLARK
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect speedometer cable at cruise control transducer, if equipped, or at upper and lower cable connections.
3. Remove trip meter reset knob retaining screw and pull knob from meter.
4. Remove knobs from the following: windshield wiper switch, rear window defogger switch and radio.
5. Remove headlamp switch knob by depressing retaining clip behind knob and pulling knob from shaft. Remove switch escutcheon.
6. Remove radio retaining nuts.
7. Remove three screws from bottom of instrument panel trim plate.
8. Place transmission shift lever in ``Low'' and remove instrument panel trim plate.
9. Remove four instrument cluster lens plate screws and the lens plate.
10. Remove four instrument cluster cover plate screws and the cover plate.
11. Disconnect shift indicator spring below speedometer and slide indicator needle toward the right side and out from cluster housing.
12. Pull instrument cluster rearward and disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connections.
13. Remove screw securing vehicle speed sensor head, if equipped, then disconnect sensor and remove cluster housing.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
