SUBJECT: INTERMITTENT "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT - TROUBLE CODES 22 AND/OR 34
MODELS AFFECTED: 1982-1985 CENTURYS AND SKYLARKS WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE R)
An intermittent "Service Engine Soon" light with a possible trouble Code 22 and/or 34 may be the result of a shorted wire harness at the generator bracket.
The MAP and TPS wiring harness runs through that area and may become abraded by the bracket.
The condition can be confirmed by noting a voltage drop to zero volts when the harness shorts out. A repair should be made to protect the wires from further abrasion.
