Procedure #1

Cycle ignition switch from Off to On position before starting diagnostic tests.
1. Check system operation and observe if compressor is operating.
a. If compressor is not operating, check electrical connections at compressor motor terminals. If connections are satisfactory, proceed to step 2.
b. If compressor is operating, but vehicle remains low, proceed to step 9.
c. If system is operating properly, check and adjust trim height as necessary.
2. Disconnect dark green wire from compressor motor terminal and connect a jumper wire from battery positive terminal to compressor motor terminal.
a. If compressor does not operate, replace compressor.
b. If compressor does operate, reconnect dark green wire to compressor motor terminal and proceed to step 3.
3. Turn ignition switch to On position and connect test light between ground and compressor relay orange wire terminals.
a. If test lamp lights, proceed to step 4.
b. If test lamp does not light, repair open in orange wire circuit.
4. With ignition switch in the On position, connect jumper wire between ground and compressor relay yellow wire terminal.
a. If compressor does not operate, replace relay.
b. If compressor operates, remove jumper wire and proceed to step 5.
5. Raise and support vehicle and check that the sensor ground wire is securely fastened and the link is attached to the height sensor arm. Also check that sensor arm adjusting nut is tight, sensor electrical connectors are secure and correct sensor is installed on vehicle.
a. If all items are satisfactory, proceed to step 6.
b. If items are defective, repair as necessary and recheck system operation.
6. With ignition switch in the On position, disconnect electrical connectors from sensor and connect test lamp between ground and harness connector terminals 3 and 6 alternately.
a. If test lamp lights at both terminals, proceed to step 7.
b. If test lamp does not light at one or both terminals, repair open in circuits to sensor.
7. With ignition switch in the On position, connect jumper wire between ground and harness connector terminal 3.
a. If compressor does not operate, repair open in yellow wire to height sensor.
b. If compressor operates, recheck ground circuit from terminal 4 to ground and repair as necessary. If circuit is satisfactory, proceed to step 8.
8. With ignition switch in the On position, perform ``Height Sensor Operational Test.''
a. If compressor does not operate, replace height sensor.
b. If compressor operates, reconnect link to height sensor and recheck system operation.
9. Turn ignition switch to the Off position and disconnect electrical connector from compressor exhaust solenoid valve. Connect suitable pressure gauge (tool No. J22124-A or equivalent) to pressure tubing and inflate system through gauge to 100 psi. Observe pressure gauge for approximately 10 minutes.
a. If pressure leaks down, repair leak in lines, fitting or shocks.
b. If pressure holds steady, check compressor. If compressor is satisfactory, check for ground in white wire to height sensor and repair as necessary.
c. If vehicle does not raise, but pressure reads 100 psi, check for pinched pressure line between compressor and shocks and repair as necessary.
