SUBJECT: Seat Trim Material - Service Repair Using Yard Goods
Complete replacement of seat trim material is very expensive and is not always necessary. Repair to small holes, tears, burns, etc., can be completed by ordering the appropriate yardage of material and by having a trim shop complete an acceptable repair.
All seat trim material part numbers are listed in the General Motors Parts Catalogues. The material is stocked in rolls of two standard sizes, 42 inches and 60 inches in width and can be ordered in the following dimensions:
- Cloth or vinyl is available by the linear foot, i.e., one foot by 42 inches or one foot by 60 inches, etc.
- Genuine leather is available exactly as required, i.e., six inches by seven inches, one foot by eight inches, etc.
The yard goods trim material is described and listed in three areas of the Parts Catalogue.
- Body cloth fabric, Group 15.500 is the seat cushion, back and side inserts, and side bolsters.
- Leather genuine, Group 15.504.
- Coated fabric/vinyl, Group 15.506, is found on some trim combinations in the area of the side bolsters of the seat cushion and seat backs.
