Injection Pump Fuel Shut Off Solenoids - Inoperative

Model Year 1983

Bulletin No. 83-171

File In Group 60

Number 42

Date Aug. '83
SUBJECT: DIESEL INJECTION PUMP FUEL SHUT OFF SOLENOID

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL EQUIPPED WITH 5.7L AND 4.3L DIESEL ENGINES
Examination of inoperative diesel injection pump fuel shut off solenoids reveals that a large percentage of this condition is caused by an accumulation of metal particles on the operating mechanism. The magnetic effect of the solenoid causes this accumulation. Before replacing any solenoids, blow off the debris with compressed air and check for proper operation by applying 12 volts to the terminal and grounding the cover.
