SUBJECT: EVAPORATIVE CANISTER PURGE THERMO VACUUM SWITCH (TVS)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1983 LESABRE, LESABRE/ELECTRA ESTATE WAGON, ELECTRA, AND RIVIERA EQUIPPED WITH 5.0L ENGINE (RPO LV2, VIN CODE Y)

NOTICE: This bulletin revises the "Technical Procedure" and "Warranty Information" sections of Emission Campaign Bulletin 83-C-16, dated August, 1988, as follows:

In the "TECHNICAL PROCEDURE" section:

Add to Step 5: On the Riviera, disconnect the electrical connector at the A/C compressor, loosen three compressor mounting bolts, remove belt, remove bolts and move A/C compressor aside to provide access to the TVS.

Add to Step 10: On the Riviera, reinstall A/C compressor to mounting brackets, reinstall bolts and belt. Using a Belt Tension Gage, tension (used) belt to 400 N. (90 lbs.) minimum. Torque mounting bolts to 50 N-m (38 lbs. ft.). Reconnect electrical connector to compressor.
