1983---85 RIVIERA
Standard Cluster
1. Disconnect ground cable from battery and speedometer cable at transaxle, cruise control transducer or union in engine compartment.
2. Remove center trim bezel, headlamp switch knob and escutcheon, and left (cluster) trim bezel, Fig. 9, pulling bezels straight away from instrument panel.
3. Remove 2 screws securing leading edge of lower instrument panel cover, then disconnect shift indicator cable from steering column.
4. Remove 4 screws securing cluster, then tilt top of cluster away from instrument panel.
5. Remove ``Check Engine'' bulb and socket from cluster and disconnect speedometer cable.
6. Place gear selector lever in low, then pull cluster away from instrument panel just far enough to gain access to Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).
7. Remove screw securing VSS optic head and the optic head, then lift cluster from instrument panel.
8. Reverse procedure to install.



Digital Cluster
1. Perform steps 1---5 as outlined for ``Standard Cluster.''
2. Disconnect wiring harness from cluster by depressing lock tab on connector and pulling connector away from cluster.
3. Remove screw securing cluster ground strap to instrument panel brace.
4. Place gear selector lever in low, pull cluster out just enough to gain access to Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), then remove screw securing VSS optic head and the optic head from cluster.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
