SUBJECT: CHECKING CHAIN FOR POSSIBLE WEAR
MODELS AFFECTED: ALL THM 440-T4 TRANSAXLES
When disassembling any TEN 440-T4, transaxle, it is important to inspect die drive link assembly (chain) for possible wear. Refer to the following service procedure.
Service Procedure:
FIGURE 1 - DRIVE CHAIN ASSEMBLY:
1. Midway between the sprockets and at right angles to the chain, push the slack (bottom) strand of the chain down until finger tight and mark with crayon on the case outside of teeth. See Illustration.
2. Push up in the same manner and put a second mark, making sure that both marks are made from the same point on the chain.
Note: If the distance between the marks exceed (1-1/16) inches or (27.4) mm, the chain must be replaced.
